Fleet Management Getting Smarter All The Time

Chevin Fleet Solutions says that it using software solutions to help its customers improve performance and compliance over fleets, assets and workforces. It does this by streamlining the analysis and reporting data of all company vehicles on the road.

"In fact, we provide software for customers, and this enables them to do so for their fleet vehicles and assets," says a spokeswoman for the Chevin, in an email exchange.

Specifically, it is working with many third parties, including Geotab, which is a global player in telematics, providing open platform fleet management solutions to businesses of all sizes. The Geotab Marketplace helps organizations with GPS fleet management and vehicle tracking solutions. FleetWave software brings disparate asset-related data together and presents it in an easy-to-understand way.

“Chevin FleetWave has long been able to integrate with Geotab to help our mutual customers leverage telematics data and increase their understanding of trends such as driver behavior, idling, engine fault codes, and more,” says Ron Katz, senior vice president, North America sales, Chevin Fleet Solutions, in a statement.

“In becoming part of the Geotab Marketplace, we join a larger community of suppliers that are offering valuable fleet and asset management solutions via this platform,” Katz added. “Chevin’s availability on the Marketplace makes it easier for customers to benefit from this integration for their operations, improve their use of telematics data, and ultimately help boost their fleet’s productivity.”

The transportation sector, generally, has relied on both ad hoc and scheduled asset maintenance  — all based on “silos” of data compilation, as opposed to a holistic aggregation and analysis. That has made it difficult to assimilate a plethora of information coming at it.

Now, though, with cloud-based solutions that can store and analyze big data, industry can have a 360-degree view of their assets. Such views are in both real-time and over prolonged times so as to make long-term projections.

“At Geotab, we strive to provide businesses simple ways to integrate vehicle data into their businesses and to help enable management by measurement,” says Neil Cawse, Geotab, CEO, in a statement. “With FleetWave and Geotab’s rich vehicle data, mutual customers can easily integrate various data assets, enabling data-driven decision making to improve efficiency and increase profitability of their fleet.”
